Hacienda 1.6
JULY 15TH, 2026

Last week the calendar gave your space a rhythm and subscriptions gave it a front door. This week the spacerunner gets a control room. (The dark forests are growing — Yancey on the Metalabel blog this week.)
Below is the usual build-side feature rundown for Hacienda 1.6.
Spacerunner Studio
Every space admin now gets Studio: one consolidated place for everything about your space. Members, groups, audience, treasury, store, posts, settings — one rail, one room.
At the center is the Dashboard: real numbers about your space, live. Audience size, active members, reach, revenue, and per-post views and impressions. And the commerce side gets a unified catalog: your store items and your space keys, side by side, managed in one place.
This replaces the old space menu rows for admins everywhere. It shipped to everyone today — kick the tires and tell us what number you wish it showed you.
Media
Every space now has a Media section: everything you have access to across the whole space — desktop tiles, post attachments, chat uploads — in one grid, newest first. Filter by file type, tap into a fullscreen viewer, and finally answer "where was that one image" without spelunking through old threads.
The section only appears when a space actually has media, so quiet spaces stay quiet.
Newsletters and the fold
Long posts can now carry a fold — a "read more" line you place wherever you want the preview to end. Everything below the fold stays strictly inside the post's access boundary: public pages, emails, search, notifications, even the protocol layer only ever see what's above the line.
Dark Forest invariants, enforced everywhere, as always.
This changes what a newsletter can do. Reading past the fold requires being signed in with access to the post — so a folded broadcast becomes a conversion moment: your email subscribers get the opening in their inbox, and continuing means coming into your space and creating an account. The preview travels everywhere; the full piece lives at home.
Alongside it, the publish flow got a ground-up rewrite: a cleaner two-step compose-then-confirm, no more losing your audience selections mid-flight, and broadcast reach corresponds to who can actually read the post. Who gets it can never exceed who can see it.
Free items and previews
Two additions to the store this week. First: items can now be free. Price something at zero and it gets a "Collect" button — a real order, a real entitlement, yours forever, no checkout friction.
Second: items can now carry a preview. Attach an audio or video teaser to anything you sell — buyers hear the track or watch the clip before they commit. Video previews play right where the cover art sits; audio gets a waveform strip.
Smaller things
Events now have real RSVP — a live row of faces showing who's coming, updating in realtime. Cancel or reschedule an event and everyone who cared gets told. And a "starting now" reminder lands right when the event begins. And event notifications got a proper calendar icon instead of a mystery color tile.
Space newsletters now send from your space's own address, so they thread and filter like mail from you, and big list imports (up to 25k rows) now run in the background with live progress instead of timing out. Chat unread counts now agree with each other everywhere — composite, classic, and DMs. The long-post editor toolbar became one solid piece that follows you as you scroll.
What's next
Studio is brand new and will deepen fast — more numbers, more controls, more of the space legible at a glance. On the store side, the machinery underneath free items is more general than it looks: pay-what-you-want pricing is coming, and soon any item will be able to unlock access to parts of your space, not just keys.
More soon ✌️
