How public should a DFOS be?
JULY 20TH, 2026

The past couple of weeks the DFOS squad has been discussing how public a DFOS space should be allowed to become.
We’ve designed DFOS so a space can be as private as its members want. But should every DFOS live entirely behind a login? Or should people be able to selectively share parts of what’s happening inside?
This week, DFOS takes a few baby steps in that direction.
We’re introducing the first pieces of a new suite of public-facing tools to amplify what’s happening inside a DFOS, but only when its members explicitly choose to.
How would you approach a tool like this? How public would you want your DFOS to be? Curious to hear people's answers and reasons in the comments.
Join us this Thursday for the July Forest Gathering.
The DFOS squad will share where the product stands, what’s coming next, and our broader vision for DFOS.
We’ll also be joined by two guest presenters, X and X, who will take us inside their DFOS spaces.
