NCE.DFOS: One week to launch
MAY 11TH, 2026

Two pieces of news this week.
Earlier today the Colorado House of Representatives passed the Colorado Artist Company Act. Here's the vote count:
The bill now sits at the Governor's desk. This is the first real legal infrastructure built for artists as a class in the United States, and it’s almost here. A full account of how we got here will be coming soon.
And next Wednesday, May 20, DFOS launches publicly. Hacienda becomes the operating system across spaces, dfos.com opens to the world, the waitlist gets invited in, and DFOS shifts from invite-only into something discoverable. New spaces will still require approval before they can start, but anyone can ask.
One ask for launch week
Next week is more interesting if it's everyone's launch, not ours.
We want to spend the week of May 20 celebrating what's already alive in DFOS. If your space has something it's been holding — an AMA, a drop, a project, a piece of work waiting for an audience — tell us by Tuesday May 19 so we can put it on a shared map and send people to it.
Reply here or DM.
This week, in order
To get this launch ready, here's what's on tap:
- Early week: Hacienda becomes the default OS on all spaces, new and existing
- Early week: Spaces can import existing chats into their new desktop
- Mid week: A new Posts experience ships, with import for existing posts
- Late week: Groups + Money begin testing, with ship target early the following week
Credit to Brandon and Ilya for their incredible work in making all this happen.
The Confessional, later this week
Later this week we'll release the Confessional — a booth where you and your spirit animal say the thing you've been carrying. A way to tell the story of this thing we’re collectively making. More in a separate email. We hope you sit down with it.
